The "Hamsa" (also Khamsa and Chamsa) is a Middle Eastern amulet used as a protection symbol and is said to bring the wearer happiness, health, and prosperity. The symbol predates most modern religions and is used in both Islam and Judaism. The word "hamsa" means five which can represent the five books of the Torah, the five pillars of Islam, the five people of the cloak, and can remind the wearer to use their five senses to praise God. In Judaism it is used to symbolize the Hand of God and sometimes the Hand of Miriam, sister to Moses and Aaron. In Islam it symbolizes the Hand of Fatima, daughter of the prophet Muhammad.
